Embodiology® transforms your life through connecting mind and body and helps you discover your body was designed to move, discover and think.
OC Musica is proud to host one of Dr Wray’s Embodiology®’s workshops this weekend November 6th and 7th, 2021 at our location.
What’s it for, who created it, who is it designed for, where does it take place?
Embodiology® is physically engaged personal development. Modern day life is largely sedentary where thinking and movement are often seen in opposition. Embodiology® begins with the most important movement in the body – breath – and integrates this into movement. This patterning is generated by the individual as well as shared among the group. Developed by Dr. S. Ama Wray in 2013, through research into indigenous art practices in West Africa, Embodiology® generates empathy, courage and joy, restoring a body mind awareness that is abundantly creative, confident and calm. Your certified Embodiology® instructor will begin by facilitating an increased capacity for deep listening, both to yourself and others. Classes and workshops are designed for any age or physical ability; intergenerational participation is encouraged as appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe?
The limits of the movement range are your choices. Embodiology® promotes listening to your body at a deeper level. There is opportunity to participate while seated and this does not hamper integration, rather it adds variation that the group values.
What if I do not have a regular physical practice?
Embodiology® is for everybody; it is a practice that improves. communication, shared responsibility, resilience, collaboration, deep listening, empathy, compassion, confidence, imagination, physical awareness, sociability and creates trust between people.
How often do I need to take classes?
A regular weekly session is the best place to start, but also as your schedule permits, a good pace at which to begin. Workshops are usually presented as a course of 8 session. Completing a full course is the most comprehensive way to begin.
How is it different from other established movement practices?
Unlike yoga or Zumba, Embodiology® does involve people interacting with each other in the class. This involves sharing your experience of an exercise to the rest of the group.
How do I get started?
